Trail Description:
Looking for that epic ride? The Rideau Trail leaves Kingston Ont. on the old Kingston Pembroke railroad grade. The trail takes on many different forms, dirt roads, snowmobile/ski trails, park trails. Sections west of Smiths Falls are primitive with lots of local history, lakes, old mines, parks. North of Merrickville Ont. the trail gets flat. With flat comes swamps, beaver ponds, abandoned concession roads with lengendary potholes. Lots of evergreen forests.
How to get there:
Access the trail at various places all along it's entire length. The trail can be traced it's entire length on the Ontario road atlas by MapArt, www.mapart.com .
Additional Notes:
Section of the trail across the Canadian Shield will be the most intense. Beware of bug season.
