Trail Description:
Trail starts out with a 2mile climb through mostly dirt and gravel terrain. it levels out at the top of a river bottom. you drop down into it and ride through sand for a quarter of a mile, after climbing out you have 3 options. if you go left you hit the technical loop, it's a 2 mile uphill, at the top the single track starts, very narrow w/ steep, rocky, rolling hills(good stuff). next is a technical down hill through washouts and river bottoms until you hit another quarter mile climb. this is a nice place to rest and is about half way through the loop. this will take you down hill for another mile or so. the rest of the loop is relatively flat w/several drop outs, ruts, burms and quick steep climbs. this is a fun challenging track. they have a NORBA race there every year so beginners should take it easy.
How to get there:
take olive Ave west until you hit the mountains, after you enter the park follow the road until it ends.
Additional Notes:
$3 to get in

white tank mt. park is not in wittman. that is many miles to the north. in any case, it's well west of the phoenix metro area at the end of olive avenue. they just added a new segment to the track; it's about a mile long and goes through a small canyon. cool stuff. the county has done good work at this place.

just a quick note for those not familiar with this area; whitman and the white tanks are basically the very west edge of phoenix, which means it gets HOT. if you're not familiar/acclimated to phoenix temps, be sure to ride this trail in the cool winter months--i'd suggest septempber or october, getting an early start.
