Trail Description:
This is a good beginner-level ride. There are a few intermediate trails here, but the most fun is to be had by the novice rider. There are a lot of hikers here so be polite and share the trail. There are some dangerous sections though. Mostly the steep downhill sections out near the golf course. Be careful here.
How to get there:
In San Antonio, take Loop 410 to HWY 16 (Bandera Road). Follow Bandera North for about 4.5 miles to the park entrance. Inside the park, turn left at the T in the road. Park by the Pavilion. This is where the trails begin.

great ride if you're starting out.
don't be afraid to take some of the unknowns. Not knowing is part of the adventure!

Rode the trail today (8/1/08 17:10). Seems to be some new development along the trail from the South part of the creek below the bowl down to Bandera Bridge. The lane looks too narrow for cars so I really think the development is an improved walking trail like up by the Y. Watch for a lot of construction vehicles.

Been going to OP before it was called OP Schnabel park and before YMCA moved in. Used to be our Private Archery Club as we had a 20 year lease, had many great years there. Even had pre-oylmpic field trials there. Which ended back in 1990. There are many trails outside of OP's main property. Many dry creek areas great for moderate to expert riders.

Nothing posted in a while. Is there anything left here
after development? We are beginners, looking for an
easy family ride to start in San Antonio.
