Trail Description:
This Trail goes on forever..........Through some real small towns and pretty countryside. Be sure to stop in Mineola and visit the Steak House. The longest I've ever gone down is about 20 miles, but it goes on farther than that. Very flat, the wind can be more than distracting at times, but the embankments on either side of the trail can help.
How to get there:
Take I-80 to I-29 South. Take the Exit for the Iowa School for the Deaf. Go right and the end of the exit ramp. At the first stop light go right and follow road for about half a mile and it will be on your right just after Lewis Central High School.
Additional Notes:
People like to hike this trail too, so be on the look out.

It may seem flat, but actually, the hill that the Trace climbs, just north of Coin, Iowa, is the highest point between Omaha and St. Louis.

Nice smooth ride for beginers or for relax training. You can ride from Council Bluffs to Coin, Iowa and stay at Ruby's place. This is an outstanding and affordable fully-equiped home. The distance? 58 miles!!

I used to ride the trail to Mineola about once a week. As posted previously the steak house is a must. I have taken the trail as far as Imogene, however, those were rare opportunities. It was a great trail to start riding as I started to ride for enjoyment, rather than necessity. It is also a nice ride to work into a new season before you head to the mountains to the west.

The trail is crushed gravel which is good for people who just want to relax but of to the side on the first ten miles going south from the trail head there are some horse trails that are fast and have some good climbs.
