Ride Summary:
A beautiful trail but also physically and technically demanding.

Trail Description:
3.0 miles in, take left turn at fork. At 4.3 miles hit intersection with the Deer Creek single track on the left. Stay on the jeep road. Find Brush creek and cross at 5.6 miles. The creek is possible to bike through in a dry year or late summer otherwise you might want to wade across.

Turn right at 7.8 miles from the jeep road to the singletrack. Steep climb but you'll be rewarded with great views. Get to the top of the ridge at 9.6. Enjoy the fabulous views towards Castle and Conundrum peaks. A wild fast and steep descend follows! This may test your skills so beware but it is definitely ride-able.

At 12.0 the singletrack merges with the Brush Creek jeep road. Ride approximately 0.5 miles down and watch for the sign to Farris Creek trail on your left. Follow the singletrack to the creek crossing. Be careful of this creek. It is deceptively deep and swift at times. Save your bike and wade across this one!

Meet intersection with the Strand Hill trail on your right at 13.2 miles. For more of a challenge take a left turn and climb steep Farris Creek route. At 15.2 the trail merges the jeep road where you turn right and do a bombing run down to the gate and the original Brush Creek road. This will return back to the parking lot.

How to get there:
Head North from Gunnison, CO. on Hwy 135 until you are about 2 miles from the city of Crested Butte. Look for signs for Skyland Camp. After 0.5 mile turn right on Brush Creek Road, this is a dirt road. Park on the parking lot left before the crossing of the East River.

Additional Notes:
The Nearest Town is Crested Butte. Bring extra water and expect weather changes.

I would call this ride advanced myself. I feel there is a better way to ride the ferris creek section: about .5 miles after the single track section hooks up with the jeep road, take the first right up-hill (Strand Hill) it is about a 10 minute climb to the top, but well worth the extra effort. Follow the single track down a really fast and fun decent. Once at the bottom be on the look out for a hairpin left branch (Bonus Trail)this trail parallels brush creek road and intersects about 1mi. from where the jeep road mentioned above. Great variation for those of us with single track minds.
