Ride Summary:
Not overly technical but definitely a workout!
Trail Description:
This is a scenic trail that starts with a good 8 mile leg- burning climb up Fisher Creek Road to really get the heart going (perhaps exploding). Then a singletrack and road decent down Williams Creek Road and finally a quick 1.25 mile jaunt back to the parking area.
How to get there:
From Twin Falls go North on Hwy 75 past Ketchum and over Galena Summit. Continue North to Fisher Creek Road and park. You'll be in the amazing Sawtooth National Recreation Area. From there hop on your bike and head up the road.
Additional Notes:
This ride is probably best done in the summer but bring water & supplies.

Road the loop last week (July 09) and found more than half to be in a burn area but the wildflowers were incredible - maybe extra sunlight (no leaves on trees) or maybe soil fertility from the ashes.

good dirt rated this ride as difficult and it is
difficult\ you should watch out for falling trees
today there was a tree blocking the trail - i would
call this ride a bonified grind

A great ride. Beginner? Not technical but be in good shape. In fall 2005 a forest fire burned about a third of it but still a beautiful ride.

Whoa Mike! It is obvious you don't care to find out what's going on before spouting negativity. The Forest Service (sic) went to great lengths to clear the trail last fall, and made sure it was cleared as soon as it melted out this spring so the trail could be enjoyed, even by folks like you who may never be satisfied by our efforts. Fisher Creek is a great ride and we aim to keep it that way, though it will be difficult as burned trees come down across the trail. If you want to provide some help rather than unfounded premature speculative criticism call the Sawtooth NRA and ask for ed. It will take a lot of effort to keep the trail in good shape so here's your chance to step up. Or you could just run away and join the real circus. ed

Yes there was a fire last summer. It is still a wonderful ride. I road it last October. The burn added to the excitement of the ride. I will ride it again in a week or two after the weather warms up a bit. Come see for yourself.

Well, sorry to disappoint everyone who loves this trail, but a major wildland fire came through last fall and wiped out the area. I doubt the Forrest Circus will allow any riding in that area due to the restoration. It was a fun ride.... Long Live Fischer!!!

While this loop is 17 miles with 2 miles of pavement and 6 1/2 miles of two track to start with, you can do it as an "out and back" while still doing a total of 17 miles. Start at the end (Williams Creek) and ride clockwise (backwards on loop) for 8 1/2 miles to the trail sign-in at the end of the 6 1/2 mile two track. Turn around here and backtrack (now going counter-clockwise.) This configuration is only recommended for later-in-the-day rides (5:00p.m. or later.) Reason: too much traffic coming the other way. Benefit: 17 miles of singletrack and two additional downhills, and no pavement or two track. Warning: watch for late-day oncoming riders. Enjoy!

At the end of this ride, expect to have perma-grin for weeks to follow. The uphill slog is well worth the downhill rollercoaster ride that you hope will never end. In the fall, expect to see a lot of hunters! An amazing ride!!
