Trail Description:
The start from Burnham Park going to the trailhead is done on pavement, mostly uphill. The actual gravel dual track is more or less 6 kilometers long, all uphill. It is merely the road used to service the radar and relay stations on top of Mt. Sto. Tomas, and was just cut from the side of the mountain and no longer improved. Great scenery all the way to the top, and the viewdeck near the radar antenna affords the best view of almost the whole of Baguio City, bar none. Going down through the same way gives one a very good adrenaline rush, because of 1) the loose gravel stones 2) the fact that the road is quite narrow and slippery and 3) the absence of any railing to protect one from falling off the cliff, which follows the road/trail from the trailhead all the way to the top.
How to get there:
One has to go to Baguio City to do this ride. From Metro Manila, one has to travel about 7 hours (by bus) to get to Baguio City. Begin from Burnham Park and take Marcos Hi-Way. Follow the road for about a couple of kilometers till you get to a Y on the road. (You should have passed a Petron gas station on the right) Take the left and just follow the road. (Taking the right would lead you down Marcos Hi-Way. Wrong way) You will reach another Y, take the left again and follow the road till the trailhead. It is on the right this time, and this is where the gravel road begins. If you feel that you're lost, its always ok to ask around. Just say that you want to get to the top of Mt. Sto. Tomas where the radar and relay stations are.
Additional Notes:
It is best to get one of the regular Baguio riders to accompany you.
