Trail Description:
The ride is 90% singletrack and tends to be quite technical. Expect some good climbs, tight switchbacks, flying descents, tons of stream crossings and a trail that goes on seemingly forever. Only a handfull of people in the world have what it takes to do the full ride.

The The Flume Trail is at the West end of the boat lauch parking lot. Follow the Flume Trail along the lake endge to the intersection with the Centennial Trail. The Centennial Trail is a 100+ mile trail so just ride it as an out and back as far as you want to go.

How to get there:
Located in the Black Hills National Forest. From Rapid City head West on Route 16. Then follow 385 to the Sheridan Lake Campground. Park near the boat launch.

Camping is available at the Sheridan Lake Campground

The Flume trail is off limits to bikes ,so dont go there.However the Centennial is a great trail that can be ridden by most descent riders.Its 111 miles long so maybe dont try her in just one day.As for traffic,there is none,I seldom see anyone while on any of the trails here.

Who writes these descriptions? First off, the flume trails in the hills are largely closed to MTB; second, "Only a handfull of people in the world have what it takes to do the full ride. "--what is that?

I did about 20 miles of that trail one morning with Ryan and Lonny. Lonnies bike kept braking and then he road the road about half way through because he was already two hours late for work. I had a blast. There are some parts where you don't even have to pedal down hill.
