Trail Description:
Best Kept Secret in Middlesex County! 10 miles of interconnecting trails. It's the only trail system in the area. You will get a great workout

Elevation: Moderate Change

Challenge: Intermediate/Advanced

The Kilmer Reserve has an extensive system of trails located on the Livingston campus of Rutgers University. Most of these trails consist of singletrack with a surface of hard packed dirt. There are several technical sections along these trails with obstacles such as rocks, roots, and fallen trees. This park also has a lot of steep climbs and descents to challenge experienced mountain bikers.

How to get there:
The Kilmer Reserve is located off of Avenue E on the Livingston campus of Rutgers University. Take Route 287 North or South to River Road Exit. Go West on River Road towards the university or football field. Turn left on Metlars Lane. Turn right at first traffic light. Turn right on Avenue E. It's the first right hand turn you can make. The parking and main entrance is on the right. There are also two other entrances I use on the right as you approach Avenue E across from the parking lots.

Excellent trail for the area if you don't feel like going to Chimney Rock in Somerville. I ride over a few times a week and get an excellent work out. The are some great sections with fallen trees, and technical pyramids that were built by riders, but they have ride arounds for the less experienced. I truly enjoy here for your daily fix.

Same thing at the Rutgers Ecological Preserve. Great trails.

This trail isn't easy to find since there is new road construction going on once you get off the exit.

to be stuck on campus for 8 months out of the year is pretty terrible, but finding this trail was sweet. its definitely not as challenging as some of the other trails, but its a nice easy ride and theres alot of wildlife to see. very hard to believe that its less than a mile from new brunswick.
