Trail Description:
A beautiful get away from the heat of the vegas vally all sommer long. Temps. as much as 20% cooler than the vally, and only 45 min. away! Steady climb on dirt road,no motorized vehicles, for 3 miles. The trail curves around and up to a flat stretch, from whitch you are now overlooking the ski area(wow).Another mile or so you reach the top where the trail loops left. Here you may need to carry your bike over some rocks for about 50 yards, no big deal, totally worth it!From here it is great single track over roots, little drop offs through aspen trees. In early spring, before June, there is water flowing accross the trail to cool off in!The trail puts you out at the ski areas parking lot with a short ride down to where we park. Last week we rode up on a family of deer, all in all a great ride!

How to get there:
Take hwy. 95 north to the lee canyon turn off. Go up almost all the way to the ski area you see a red round house on the left. Turn right there up a small road to the dirt parking lot.

Additional Notes:
Weekdays are great for having it all to yourself!

Good ride. The fire road is a nice easy warm up, next time I will ride up the downhill and just make it a there and back. Or maybe I will ride up the downhill then nuke down the fire road. Maybe Ill do both because it is a bit of a short ride. Left Vegas and it was 80 degrees, by the time i got up there it was 40 degrees. It was certainly nice to be in some cool weather. I got there right at sunset, so by the time I got to the top of the fire road it was completely dark and I had to use my head lamp for the downhill! It was a nice change up for the ride. I think next full moon I am going to do a full night ride. All in all a fun ride, do it to get outta the city

Great Trail ride. Rather than make it a loop go up the single track and back down the same way. Its definately more scenic that way. This is a quick ride, great if you are up there to camp already. Fun single track. I would say this is most scenic trail in Southern, NV.

fun fun fun. More up hill than down. But its worth it for sure. Make sure you start at the lower bristlecone to make your climb easier and down hill a lot better. Enjoi

Hi. This an edit to my previous post...I had put that the climb was 4.2 miles, but I forgot that I started my computer at the parking lot by the ski lodge and then rode down to the trail head/fireroad. So the climb is a bit shorter, Maybe half mile +/-.

Rode this trail last weekend, the climb is 4.2 miles and a good cardio workout. The downhill is the pretty part as already mentioned, it is only 2.4 miles long and has a few fun technical spots. Go early in the morning or on a weekday, other wise you will run into hikers every hundred feet which means you never really can get up to speed and enjoy the downhill. Over all a decent ride though...leaves you wanting more downhill for all the uphill work you just did.

The trail has beautiful scenery, but is pretty technical. It was not very thrilling to have to ride uphill for 3 miles of the trail, but the downhill payout was pretty fun. Just be careful because there are several sharp turns and high tree roots that can be challenging. Overall a pretty fun ride.

This trail is a sweet little ditty. Perfect for a few rings around in the tree. A kind of dull climb on an old road leads to a fun single track. Watch out for hikers as the downhill is narrow and has a few switchbacks.
