Trail Description:
Veteran's Acres Park has a bunch of stuff and is not strictly for biking. If you go into the prarie you can find rolling hills, but go into the woods and find some fun singletrack. There is a major bike trail that goes through the park so nonmountain bikers can enjoy. The only problem is there is not that much distance but you can make tons of loops. The ditance above is an estimate.
How to get there:
The park is on the near the corner of rt. 14 and Walkup Road in Crystal Lake. I recommend parking at the Nature center. To get there take 14 east past Walkup and there will be a sign telling you when to turn left off 14.

Sterns used to shoot at us when we'd run in his woods back in the late 70's early 80s. It's still believed that if you run or bike through there right at sunrise or sunset - you can hear him unzipping his pants and getting ready to take on his next victim

Indeed it is just north of 176 and Walkup. Paved trails along bike path do wind and dip- so be careful especially during slick times. Take care on trails, I have known several who have received tix from CLPD. Have fun & be careful!

Vets wasn't worth the trip except one of the hills it was a challenging hill to master. take the ride to sterns and risk the ticket ride every trail that you can i had a lot of fun there. it however doesn't match kettle moraine but it has a few parts that are just as challenging. if you don't live too far make the trip

Vetrans Acres is not worth the visit, the cross country teams lay mulch all over. However, Sterne's woods is worth a ride; take note that Sterne's woods is not legit for bikers (i.e. you risk a ticket)

There are actually two separate trail areas that are linked. The section with the gravel roads is called Stearns Woods - there are several good single track cutoffs from this main road loop.
