Ride Summary:
Long dirt road climb with awesome hardpack descent
Trail Description:
Start from the parking/camping area and begin climbing the road (Elden Lookout Road) heading north-east. Just when you seem to be approaching the end of your climbing patience, hang a left on the obvious singletrack trail (if you cross the cattleguard you've gone too far). Let off of the brakes and enjoy the trip down! This trail is very easy to navigate and it's hard to get lost but pay attention anyway. There are lots of little jumps and berms along the way to test your air capabilities. Be sure to control your speed somewhat, allowing for hikers, equestrians, and other cyclists. Follow this descent back to the trail head. Repeat as many times as possible without starting to see double!
How to get there:
From Flagstaff, head north on 180, north again (right) on Schultz Pass Road. The parking area is about 100 yards up the road on the right side.

ummm....where to start? the cattle guard hasn't
been there for a decade and the trail got a huge
face-lift about 3-4 years ago...if 3 paved miles and
1.5 miles up a dirt road is the "end of your climbing
patience" go home and play some more video
games. the first section of rockyridge is flowy and
coast-able but then be prepared for a technical
battle up and a nice rolly, but still rocky, finish. at
most 7-8 mile round trip from trailhead. o yeah,
MAYBE 2 or 3 "birms and jumps" go 'test your "air
capabilities" on a better suited trail. best thing
about rockyridge is it is south facing, thusly one of
the first trails to be rideable in the early spring!
there are better places to "Repeat as many times as
possible without starting to see double!"
ALWAYS CHECK LOCAL SHOPS FIRST!!!

Try this one going clockwise and continue to the top of Elden and down Sunset.
