Ride Summary:
Flat, straight and easy
Trail Description:
The Carnation Railroad Grade like all railroad grades is an easy ride. There is no noticeable elevation gain. The wide gravel trails along with the relatively flat ride makes this a great ride for beginners and family outings. The more skilled riders will also enjoy this trail because of the singletrack that branches off from the main trail throughout the ride. These singletrack trails are heavily used by horses so they are fairly chewed up and make for difficult riding in places.
How to get there:
Drive North on HWY 203 to Carnation. Take the second right after passing the high school onto East Entiwisile St. After about a mile you will see a small parking lot on the right and the trail. Once on the trail, go south. The trail goes to the North as well, but there is much more trail and scenery to the south.
Additional Notes:
There are some spur singletrack trails here that are fun for the intermediate rider, but not enough miles to make it a destination.

100' elevation gain -- NOT. This beautiful ride starts in Carnation and once out of town climbs a ridge until it ends up ABOVE Snoqualamie Falls. I'd guess at least a 700' elevation gain. But the grade, while unrelentingly uphill, is very gradual -- I took my 70+ yrs young father on it. And he felt it was well worth the ride. There are some beautiful vistas, especially when the trees are bare of leaves in the winter. The rest of the time, be sure to stop on the tressles, especially the long curved one at post 996 near the top, and enjoy the spectacular views.

This rail-trail doesn't end at Tokul road. You can get back on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail in Snoqualmie at the Mt Si golf course. The trail heads south-southeast through North Bend up to Rattlesnake Lake. At the south side of the lake you can access the John Wayne Pioneer Trail (it may be called the Iron Horse Trail). The trail goes up through a pitch black 2.3 mile tunnel and continues east to Vantage at the Columbia River. This is a great trail if you want to cover a lot of miles and see amazing scenery.

If you go to the end (the tunnel under Tokul Road), you can go right on Tokul Road for less than a mile to reach Snoqualmie Falls -- a nice destination with scenery, water, snacks, and bathroom.

This is a fun place to do a 20 mile training sprint. Go up the rail trail 10 miles to its end and turn back. There is also about 5 miles of singletrack to explore with some insane downhills too.
