Some dude Bob said take it easy on the beginners. You were responding to some guy that said he was from Europe. Think Autobahn. Go ahead and ride, just make sure you know when you're in the fast lane. Saw some guys riding a tandem MB the other day on night. But they were leaving the trail, so I could not follow. Only thing that scares me out there is not coming back alive. Other than that it feels like my chapel of saguaros.

Spent several years trekkin this gem. Not on bike but on foot. Excellent hiking trail that has lots of drama with little effort. Hiked all over North America and some of Europe. Just love the serenity of this hidden treasure. Will gladly get out of the way of bikers and share it! Worry about the "developer" sharks licking their chops at this piece of land. Need to protect Hawes at any cost!

Im sorry that some folks think that beginners just get in the way. Hey weren't you guys beginners when you first started? Get over yourself.

Im sorry that some folks think that beginners just get in the way. Hey weren't you guys beginners when you first started? Get over yourself. everyone deserves the opportunity to use this area before its all gone to developers.I am no longer a beginner because of this area and how it pushed me to be a better rider. Thanks to all of the riders that took the time to help me become a better rider. Thats what this sport should really be about. Not jerks that feel they are the only ones that should be allowed to ride in certain areas.

8 years ago, these trails would have rated a solid 5. However, due to unusually high volumes of beginner traffic and the occasional motorcycle/quad tearing it up, they only get a 4. Thankfully the Mine Trail is too scary for most beginners and too narrow for motorized vehicles, and it remains somewhat challenging. Note: Please control your bike and refrain from skidding into cactus and rocks. These items add to the overall challenge of the trails, and should remain on and near the trails. These items are also habitat for the multitude of small animals that reside here. How would you like it if someone came crashing through your house with a 75 foot tall tire?

Hawes has the best trails in the valley on par with Mormon and National on South Mountain. It is set up more like a mountain biking park with great elvation differentials and well maintained trails throughout. This area has changed for riding due to development. The old entrance at the end of hawes Road is difficult to access nowadays and makes the end of your ride grueling. I suggest parking in the small dirt lot on the west sied of Power Rd. just as you start descending down into the river valley going north on Power. From this lot you CAREFULLY cross the road to the trailhead. If you head on the trail east from the map at the trailhead you will have the best start to a ride with a 400 meters of roller coaster whoop de whoops. Then the work begins as you make a right onto Ridge Trail and work your way up to Pig Trail. To Hawes Trail. This is a steady climb that gets your blood pumping but is not overly challenging until a climb as you traverse a hillside of about 6 degrees for a few

WOW! What a great trail. I have only been riding for a short time and this trail is quite a bit over my head but doable. What I do is get out of the way if there are more experienced riders, Not mess with anything on the trail and learn from the more experienced. I have found that there are some areas around the main trails that are great for the beginners. I would suggest you people like me start there and we can work our way up....

This is an awesome trail. My favorite by far. The first time I rode it & had an amazing time. Stay back and ride it all out & full speed.

Awesome trail! It is difficult not to wreck when your eyes are drawn to the magnificent scenery! It is especially beautiful right now; with all of the rain we had the desert is covered with wildflowers. Red Mountain is peppered with lush green growth as well. With all of the development at the the end of Hawes road (it does't end now - goes right into the housing development) finding the trail at that end is tricky if you haven't been there in a while. The entries off the Bush Hwy are unchanged though....

This trail is rippin'!!! It is by far my favorite trail to ride. It has everything, sick downhills, whippin' ups, and some nice big, jagged rocks to cushion your fall. By all means, see you there...
