Ride Summary:
Not real challenging but can be real fun. Explore the spur trails.
Trail Description:
This is a relatively easy trail with some fun, more challenging singletrack off the main trail. Follow under the powerlines from the parking area for about a mile and look to the right for a trail heading into the woods. Lookout for 4-wheeled vehicles until you get into the safety of the forest. Also check out some more trails across Novelty Hill road about .25 miles to the east.
How to get there:
From Seattle, head East on SR 520. Follow it to the end and follow the signs for Avondale Rd. Follow Avondale Rd. for about 2 miles, then turn right onto Novelty Hill Rd. After about 5 more miles you will see a small parking area under some powerlines. Park here and follow the powerlines to the trail.
Additional Notes:
There is a lot of construction and new housing in this area. They are saving some of the trails, but a lot are being wiped out for million dollar homes.

Development has really taken off in the area so the actual number of bike-able miles seemed far less than the claimed 10. Watch for horse droppings along the way.

Did about six miles on the powerline and trails. Trails are immaculate. Pretty easy riding except in places under the powerline.

I rode here a few times a year (around 6 or 7 years ago). I always would get lost and pop out in the middle of some castles. You could get really, really muddy here and if you didn't mind the smell of horse mess, it was really fun and great terrain. I drive by the construction mess everyday now wondering why they're building a billion homes at the "watershed". I don't get it?

Best bet is to just go to the Watershed parking lot and start out from there. Stay off the hiker-only trails and you can still have some fun on the remaining easy trails. At least the woods are nice....

It is so sad to see a once awesome recreation area (Biking, hiking, and horses) closed in the name of progress. As with the Issaquah Grand ridge trail, Novelty Hill has become a ghetto for the rich. These areas could have been saved if trail users could have gelled together for a common goal.

The trails are still open. I ride there about once a week. I would suggest parking at the Redmond Watershed and biking over to the power line dirt road. Quadrant will ruin the rest of this area soon. Watch out for

This whole trail has been destroyed. Everything is either paved, restricted, or under construction. Don't bother going. Check out St. Ed's!
