Trail Description:
The Tree Farm is a true Northwest gem. The area is criss-crossed with fire roads connecting the miles and miles of singletrack. Though the beauty of it is you will hardly have to touch the fire roads at all if you don't want to. Throughout the area there is narrow, twisting singletrack that parallels the roads. It will take you several trips to fully explore this area. Also if you explore enough, you will come across a large metal sculpture in the middle of nowhere with a spectacular view of Lake McMurray.
Many of the trails are closed from November 1st through May 1st because the trails don't do well during our wet winter months. The dirt roads are open year round.
How to get there:
From Everett go North On I-5. Exit 215 (300th Street). Turn right onto 300th Street.
Option 1
Follow 300th for about 6 miles to its end. You'll see a gate to the left with a trail skirting around to the left of that. This is where the trail begins. There is no parking here so head back on 300th to the intersection and park there.
Option 2
Follow 300th street for about .7 miles then turn left onto English GR Rd. After 1.2 miles on English GR Rd, turn right onto 316th St. NW. Then after 1.7 more miles, turn left onto 3rd Ave. NE up a gravel road and park at the top by the gate. (Parking here provides less climbing than option 1.

Nearly all of the trails were built by/and for horses. There are only three that I know of built by bikers or clubs. Many cyclists have helped maintain these trails over the years. As for a freeride trail? None that I know of lately. There was one trail in the early 90s that was near vert. steep in a few places. I saw bikes and bones break. That trail is on its third revamp.

Option 2 is NOT an option. That is a road that is well posted with no recreational parking signs. Before you get to 3rd while travelling on 316th you will see a turn off for the pilchuck glass school. Turn left there and you will see a parking lot on the left hand side. There are trails to take right from that lot. Also the Pilchuck tree farm is made up of 3 different tracts of land. This entry only describes the Victoria Tract which is closed From November to May 1st.

Trails are rock-hard with the 11 degree temperatures. Some logging on the main road (3rd), but no way to damage the trails, this week.

Trails have finally dried out and are are extremely fast compact dirt. All the sun has caused rapid growth of vegetation in some spots probably could use some machete action. Watch out for horses in the enchanted forest leading out to monument as well as horse do do.

Is the trail open this weekend? Weather has been good and it supposedly stays open until Nov 1st.
