The begins next to the red barn. From here you immediately drop down a technical off camber swithcback descent. About 300ft to the bottom. The trail begins climbing back up toward the bluff. The trail goes up and down several times giving you a good work out and a great reward! All the DH single track. You'll find tons of tight single track and wider pipeline clearings where you can pedal like a gerbil with an overdose of ginseng. The trail is clearly marked with red arrows and plastic tape.

How to get there:
Head north of Jacksonville on Hwy 69 towards Tyler. At the red barn, on weekends only, pay the $3 entry fee and sign insurance waivers. You can ride the trail week days but you have to work it out in advance with the gentleman who owns the land.

Additional Notes:
Jacksonville, Texas.

My cousin and I went out last sunday, June 17th 2007, and the red barn had 10-15 "No Tresspassing" "Violators Will be Shot" signs hanging up on the fenceline and the barn. I saw the trail from the fence and it looked like a jeep road to me. This area has alot of potential and East Texas MTBrs should see about building a trail down the face of the mountain. We did however find a drainage ditch that runs off the far right corner of the Lookout Mountain area, it's about a 1/4 of a mile and starts with a 2 foot drop followed by three 12-15" drops. You then pedal back up the road to the top of the hill. I was very unimpressed as I have very little interest in watching a Mockingbird stand on top of a dirty, rotting calf skull on the side of the Highway.
