Ride Summary:
Flat quick single track on clay.
Trail Description:
This is a short but fun loop of single track. It is very fast due to the hard pack clay. You need to do it twice (16 miles total) to get a work out. The trail is near Lake Lavon so in the summer you can refresh if there is not drought. Near the end of the trail there are some whip like turns. They are lots of fun.
How to get there:
From Dallas take 35 north to 635. Then 75 north to McKinney. Take 380e to Princeton, a tiny tiny town. Now the hard part. At the Y past the light head north. Follow the road for about seven miles. When you come to a sharp left turn go straight. Follow the new road and finally you will see a sign that says "Sister Grove Park" turn right and about 1/2 mile you will see the entrance. sorry no street names, but there are not any, small town small budget I know I grew up there
Additional Notes:
Princeton, Texas.

The trail is very poorly marked. We were going wrong way at first as there is no sign designating the right direction. Trail is severly overused. It has deep ruts that stop you dead in your tracks if you get the slightest bit off track. In all it was enjoyable, but nowhere as fun as erwin park.

Good beginner-to-intermediate level trails here. Sister Grove Loop is the more technical of the two loops. Lakeside Loop has more open space and longer climbs. Beware of deep, narrow ruts on the Lakeside Loop. Master these loops before venturing into Erwin Park. Better directions from McKinney: stay on 380 through Princeton. Turn L at the intersection in the middle of Lake Lavon bridge. Follow the Sister Grove Park signs.

My son and I rode this trail the other day. Trail was in good condition except for the long grass and weeds. Three or four new bypasses have been made to avoid rutted areas. They have finished a pavillion and a bathroom near the parking lot.

I and my daughter road the trail in the summer of 2000. The trail was in very poor condition due to over use. Many stretches were so rutted that navgating them was not enjoyable. The trail was not well marked. A local group has done a good job of keeping it clean, but the trail is an example of over use and many individuals not waiting until the trail has dried out before riding.
