Ride Summary:
Big, lot's of trails, often host to events, what more could you ask for? An Eastern Washington icon.

Trail Description:
One of the first Mountain Bike competitions in Eastern Washington was held on Mount Spokane and the tradition continues with NORBA sponsored events. What this means for the local cyclist is better trails, unfortunately crowded with more people. Still, there are many places off the knobby pounded track where the industrious biker can kick up some decent dust. It's a big area and you could get lost. Unlike Tahuya (it's counterpart on the West side, getting lost on Mount Spokane could have serious consequences.)

How to get there:
Take Interstate 90 to the Argonne Road exit. Head north on Argonne until you come to a stop sign at Bigelow Gulch Road. Keep heading north, and the road becomes Bruce Road, which then intersects with State Route 206 running east and west. Turn right on 206. Follow State Route 206 for 15 miles to the park entrance, which is just past Kirk's Lodge. The Cross Country Ski Area is another 3 1/2 miles past the entrance. Turn right and go up the gravel road to the Sno-Park parking lot, where you will see the very nice ski hut. There is a map of the trails posted near the hut.

Very sweet pictures. I'm goign to try again, but Benjamin thguoht looking down at the grass was good. Or as soon as he see's the camera he zero's in on it and just stares but won't do his cute smiles, I definetly need to be the one getting him to smile not snapping the pictures I guess, or soon he will come around I'm sure.

If you are ever in town and need a guide for this area and want to hook up call 509-979-0615 and I or my brother will show you around. If not ride, drive, or get to top of the mountain. As the rd enters a parking lot on top there is a single track exiting out of the non paved smaller parking area on the left. That is it. expect rooty rocky descents from here off the back side of the mountain. it gets Steep really quick so watch out. if you don't know the trails just stay left on the way down and you'll be set or head for mt kit carson trail back to kirks lodge at the base of the mountain. This downhill is about 7-15 miles depending and can be seriously all downhill. no joke. So bring the big boy toys with travel.

The road is now fixed. If you ride the right trails Mt. Spokane can have some of the hairiest downhills in the area. Lots of lose rock can add to the excitement.

Mt. Spokane is my favorite local place to ride. However, I was just up there and talked to a ranger. The road up there washed out and you can't drive past the rangers station. You can bike up if you like, but that's it. He told me it probably wouldn't be open till October or so.
