Ride Summary:
A fantastic maze of trails. Get lost, spend the day!
Trail Description:
This is a system of trails which total a little over thirty miles. They can be combined in an endless variety of loops. Mostly singletrack with a few logging roads, it's a great place to pass the afternoon.
How to get there:
From Winthrop, drive east on Highway 20. After crossing the Methow river, bear right onto Twin Lakes Road. Follow signs for Sun Mountain Lodge. About a mile below the lodge, there will be a sign for the Chickadee Trailhead. Park here for day use.

Some fantastic riding and a great town! Spend all day riding the awesome trails that cater to downhillers as well as cross country mountain bikers. Something for everyone. Roundandround.com puts on races here in May and October. Winthrop Brewing Company serves up a mean IPA. Winthrop is a well kept secret.

Smooth, fast, dirt trails with minimum climbing are few and far between in Western Washington. These are great fun and a pleasant change.

Black Bear Trail is a great singletrack for advanced riders. The trail is best ridden clockwise direction.Patterson Lake trail is also recommended although sidehill exposure makes passing hikers and opposite direction traffic a bit nerve racking.
