On the east side of Freeze Out Pass you will be riding in areas that burned in the 2003 fires. The trails have some washed outs, from the big rains of early June 26th, from Freeze Out Pass down into the Salmon Drainage. Best to ride counter clockwise

Had a great ride yesterday! No snow, just sun and lots of furry marmots running around in the beautiful high alpine meadows covered in wild flowers. The trail is in excellent condition and the hike-a-bike to the summit is HIGHLY recommended (watch out for that chilly wind as you look for Mt. Baker off in the distance). The high altitude makes this a very strenuous ride. Bring at least 80oz of fluid to stay hydrated. You can do this ride in reverse by starting at the Tiffany Springs Campground trailhead. That is the less strenuous version of the ride, but still difficult enough for the average intermediate/advanced rider. You need to be confident of your abilities to ride this one. This ride has it all: true singletrack, technical riding, steep DH, mud in places, streams, downed logs, roots and rocks, long climbs, fast descents, beautiful forest scenery. Enjoy!

Rode/hiked on 7/13/99. Still lots of snow on northfacing slopes...wait abit longer for melt. Views, adventure, and the blast down Freezeout Ridge were excellent.
