Trail Description:
The trail map depicted trails for all ability levels, but it seemed that the majority of trails we rode on required some technical skills and/or had vicious steeps. Many of the trails in this system are loop cross-country trails in the winter. There are other gnarly single-track, switchback trails which intersect throughout, which are definitely not for the squeamish. There is decent signage on the trails-which is handy since beginners and intermediate riders could quickly find themselves out of their league if they take a wrong turn. Mileage depicted is a guesstimate, since my trail map got trashed. The trails are a blast!
How to get there:
The trails are within the Boyne Mountain resort off of route 131 just south of Boyne Falls. The easier trails can be accessed from adjacent to the tennis court complex-they connect up with the gnarly stuff. You can also access the harder stuff directly from off of "Mountain Road," which connects the ski base area with the golf course complex.
Additional Notes:
Some of the best trails are at risk of being "golf-coursed" out of existence.

I appreciated being able to read about these trails before my visit. I used the information and had one of the best rides of my life...parked at the golf course lot, took the paved bike trail over the mountain to the chair lifts, and hooked up with the trailhead at the tennis courts. After about two hours of riding great trails I just popped out onto the road and took it back to the lot. Awesome!

The chairlift is now open & its free for
the first ride!(Be sure to leave a tip
for the girls loading your bike) Trails
are in good shape, but the new map is
still somewhat sketchy...first time
rides would do well to hook-up with
someone familiar with the trails..try
hanging out at the trailhead near the
tennis courts.

This awesome trail just got a whole lot better with the attition of several miles of new stuff. The new trails are on the back of the "superbowl" ski run & have some nice technical sections and plenty of wicked climbs. Last summer the trails were marked with new colored badges, but first time navigators will still have to pay close attention. The resort has promised a new map this year..lets hope they come through.
BTW...there is no charge to use the trail (it is maintained by local volunteers) so stop in at the resort for a cool one after your ride..there are at least four bars and six restaraunts on the property.

A great endurance course, but on the easy side, not considering the climbing. Not very technical, but the climbing is tough. Depending on the current race course set-up it ranges in lenght from 9-10 miles with a good 1,100 vertical feet of climbing. Be cautious of the final fast-technical descent to the trailhead!

It ‘rocks’ when you enjoy a good trail.
Say, have you checked out the Trail Advocacy link just on the left listed under the Trail Guides heading? Please remember it’s only as good as the effort that’s put into making it that way and it can disappear tomorrow. Please do your part. Thanks

The trail would be great if it was marked in any direction. If you feel like wondering aroung a mountain feeling like you are going the right way this is the place to be. Not even the locals had a clue to what trail the map Boyne Mountain gave me was. I suggest a guided tour the first time.
