As the trail steward for this trail
system, I would like to ask that you
stay on the designated bike trail. I am
working with the NPS to get more trails
opened as we get them built and these
should be open to bikes by the spring of
2011. That will give us almost 9 miles
of legal trail to ride. Questions? email
me charles@atlantaoutfitters.com,
www.sopecreektrails.com, or on Facebook
as 'Sope Creek Trails Atlanta'. Thanks!

The trail is near my house so its nice to do an after work ride there a few days per week. I have been riding there on and off for the past 24 years. The famed granite hill which was the ultimate challenge in the past is gone but I have seen so many patients enter my clinic with broken collar bones from granite hill that I am glad its gone. It was just too dangerous for inexperienced riders. Most of the good trails are now temporarily closed but should open in another year according to the rangers. As it is now, the legal trails are mostly manicured and non-challenging. There are some great trails present but just not legal. If you are a beginner, the legal trails may be just the ticket. When I need to do out and back hill repeats, a good place to train is on the first part of the entrance trail heading up to sope creek trails called "slalom". Overall these trails are no "Blankets Creek" but then nothing is. Hopefully, in another year or so, all of the good trails will be open and we w

This trail has been completely redesigned. I rode there yesterday and I am really surprised with the job they did. The trail is awesome... Very fast paced and technical. That place just became my new weekday training..

The trail offers the opportunity to get a great ride in after work on the weekdays...not to technical...a few challenging hills...a great little work out. Lately they have been doing maintenance on the trail...they have really screwed up the flow of the trail on one of the best hills. I understand putting 6' x 6' along the trail to prevent erosion, but common...someone got carried away on a few spots. Not a problem though...I'm sure a trail will develope going around it.

The main trail is better maintained than in the past. The biggest problem is watching out for hikers. It is a great place to get a ride fix if you live close. The best trails are off the main stretch and marked as no bikes. I have been told by the park rangers that your bike will be confiscated if your are found off the beaten path.

the main trail was boring for the most part. i found some really fun loops off the main trail.. thats where the fun is, but alot of these say "no bikes" anyways. it has potential to be something cool, but never saw any other riders.

Nothing too technical, but some of the downhills are fast, and lots of roots and rocks to nearly kill yourself on. Downhills are full of drops, if you are going full speed, you can come over the bars easily. Some of the climbs are tough, as erosion has left alot of exposed roots and rocks. Its a fun and fast ride. Lots of hikers and runners, so watch out. There was a hot runner chick though.
