I have been cutting in single track trails along the canal. There are trails for the experienced rider along lock seven of the canal path. If you go to lock seven there is a lot across from the canal. you can walk or ride up the dirt road there are 2 good trails so far. One is to the right hand side of the road before the gate. a few good drops for you freeride guys. The other trail is after the gate to the left. This is a little less tech. but is not for the beginner. check them out and have fun more to come.

There is allot of stuff to ride at the canal that no one knows about. There is a ton of killer singletrack off the sides of the main drag and a few good steep hills on the right hand side.

This is nice, quick out and back trail. In the parking lot go past the Porta John and ride the path less traveled. It has excellent bridges and quick turns. It is a lot more technical then the tow path. I was just there a couple of days ago. Out and back it is about a 50 minute ride. Enjoy!

DIRECTION UPDATE: From exit 74 NE Extension of PA Turnpike, follow US Rt. 209 South about 2 miles. Continue STRIGHT at the intersection with Rt. 248 and cross the bridge. Turn right at the end of the bridge, staying on Rt. 209 S. At Donut Queen, turn right and recross the river. Stay on that road till you cross over railroad tracks and IMMEADIATLY turn left into parking area. This is not the shortest, but it is the easiest way to get to this trailhead. THE RIDE: From the parking lot, ride to the far end of the lot, along the canal. Along the way you will pass locks, a stream or two, pass under a RR bridge and through high wall valley areas. It is about 4 miles to the treatment plant in Jim Thorpe, the end of the trail. The tow path is fairly easy to ride. A few places have small hills and grades, but my 10 year old daughter can usually make them without stopping. There are also a few muddy places and some rocky patches and areas with roots covering the trail. I once rode this trail
