Trail Description:
A mix of doubletrack and singletrack that creates an interesting blend of terrain and riding. Trails criss-cross all over so be sure to get a map at the office.
Climbing Mt. Sheldon (highest point in Macomb) will lead you to a fantastic section of single track that makes it worth the climb.
The 2000 XTERRA race helped wear this in so its very fast and fun.
How to get there:
M59 & go north on Dequindre Rd. Right on 25 Mile then left on Shelby Road.
Once you enter, go left and take first left after entrance to golf course.
Additional Notes:
Its a metropark so you'll need a pass. $2/day, $3/wkd or $20/yr.

Walked portions of the trail up to Mt. Sheldon and a bunch of the downhill singletrack from there. Too muddy to ride. Someone had been out there and it looks like they tore up the trail in areas.

Has anyone tried these yet this year? Are they good to ride or are they still frozen and too muddy?

Some pretty steep climbs, some nice downhills and windy runs. Overall 4/5... I had fun, rode two days this past weekend. Semi technical spots, but most are straight with a decent amount of elevation change.

When I was a kid these trails were mainly for cross country skiing and the Park MTB dudes would try to catch us to kick us off these fun trails. It's nice to see the park finally allowing MTB's on these trails. BigP If you think the black trails are easy then get off your rear brake and let me see you follow us at the speeds we take 'em.

I loved this....this was the first time i have ever been mountain biking i did it while taking a police bike school class at sterling heights pd and at the last day we hit the trails...basically now i want to go out looking for a mountain bike so i can go back and hit up other trails..single trails are the funniest and you pick up mad speed.

It ‘rocks’ when you enjoy a good trail.
Say, have you checked out the Trail Advocacy link just on the left listed under the Trail Guides heading? Please remember it’s only as good as the effort that’s put into making it that way and it can disappear tomorrow. Please do your part. Thanks

Pretty good trail. Real nice technical singletrack section is the only trail worthwhile to most people. The rest is too wide and easy.

Stoney is a great system of trails. You just have know where to go. It has short but very fast sections. That are perfect for night riders. Just don't hit a deer. They hurt. Stoney drains well. Except for the low land parts. So if it just rained, stay near the hilly park enterences. Or your bike will hate you. There are many branchs off the trials that are worth hitting. So explore and ripe it up. HINT: If your cheap like me and you don't like paying park fees. Then find Hart Middle School or Stoney High School of E. Tienken rd./sheldon rd. and park there. Take sheldon road north passed mead and on your right you will see the back enterence. It's only a mile ride. So save your $ and upgrade your bike.
