hey Marty:Please let the powers-that-be at the Daily Camera know that this new hedaer on your Rubber Side Down blog is completely lame and unworthy of your incredibly original writing and photography.i will continue to read your blog and enjoy the content even if the hedaer remains vanilla and unengaging but i sure do like the old pic better!thx,Robbie

buff singletrack girlfriend ride. do this on your fixe or cyclocross bike. leave the bouncy pants ride at home. trail is usually closed from mid-autumn to mid-spring to allow only horses to destroy it. like most california trails, this will get your legs moving, but you will never have to turn your handlebars or negotiate obstacles. zero technical skills required. still, this trail is gorgeous and very fun on a weekday morning when you're not likely to encounter horses or gumbies. if you ride it on a weekend, be prepared to stop to let peds and horses pass every 200 meters. take numerous safety breaks for maximum pleasure.

This is not even close to a beginner's loop! Harkin's Ridge is one of the steepest extended climbs in the area. An advanced beginner loop would be to take Higgins-Purisma Rd to the top(moderate 4 mile climb), go left on Skyline(3 miles rolling paved) then drop back into Purisma Creek preserve(at the country store) to pick up Whittmore Gulch(wicked cool descent) to the bottom.
