Trail Description:
This place is awesome. Probably one of the best areas to ride in the whole bay area. Thirty-six miles of multi-use trails are available for your exploration at this 2,821-acre preserve. A popular loop route begins at the Skeggs Point trailhead and the head waters of El Corte de Madera Creek. The vegetation changes from a mixed evergreen forest to predominantly redwood forest as you descend into the preserve. This area has everything from hard-pack fire roads to very rutty fire roads to wonderfull single track. But watch out because there can be many surprises on the many trails, especially the single track. These include very narrow sections w/ big rocks, roots, ruts, switchbacks, cliffs and so forth so proceed w/ some caution. Also when you start out on the most popular trailheads witch start out at the top of the mountain (like Skeggs Point) its just a twisty drop all the way down and can be a long climb back out, so grab a map at the entrance.

How to get there:
From 101 or 280 exit on 92 west towards Half Moon Bay. When you get to Skyline turn left and drive roughly about 5-7 miles. Skeggs Point will be to your left and there will be a small parking lot. you can't miss it. (you'll usually see a bunch of mountian bikers in the lot) Across the street and a little way down you will find the entrance to the trails.

Additional Notes:
Please stay on the trails, keep them clean, watch for hikers, wear a helmet and enjoy.

uhh, its fun for just simple stuff, but its lame how there are no stunts, jumps, drops, or anything that requires balls. And not really skills either. uphill does, but downhill really really really should. depends on who you are meeting with. If they are on a under 30 pound bike, just let them have uphill right of way. If they are cool, or have biggish bike, go for it downhill.

uh, come on folks, obviously uphill has the right of way. Why? cause if its too steep you cant start from a stop, going downhill you can always start again pretty basic, and pretty sad this is not something you folks could figure out on your own

downhill has the right of way...you cant stop as fast downhill as you can uphill, and it is such a bummer to lose your flow going downhill.

dowhilling definately has the right of way. its a lot easier for an uphiller to move out of the way. go freeriding! never ridden this trail but im coming for a trip. looking around for sum trails with stunts and drops. Know any!?

a couple trails still rule: blue blossom, the leafs, crosscut secret trail, and a couple more -- all legal as of 07/01/2004. i understand the blossom is getting cut by the authorities this season; to make it simpler and easier. which is all you can expect from non-riders who only know how to make trails go straight up and straight down. it's a real shame since the blossom is the last bastion of real trail riding at skeggs... i mean, you don't want to have to turn your handlebars or anything while you ride, right? just pedal in a straight line (either straight up or straight down) like all the other california trails. bicycle handling skills are not required.

UPHILL has the right of way. If this "John" runs into me, he will lunch on a knuckle sandwich. 3 stars, as all Marin fireroads are lame. Go down to Peninsula.

Ouch. Posted on a wrong trail. Skeggs is all right. And UPHILL still has right of way.
