Trail Description:
From the parking area (which is a gravel pit for the hyway dept...Follow the narrow track toward the peaks(West) The trail climbs West for about 3 miles as it parallels route 156 on the north side of the road. At three miles the trail crosses from the north side to the south side of route 156. This intersection is marked on the north side by a brown 4X4 stuck in the ground and on the south side of the road by a cairn.**( If you want to car shuttle and do more downhill…lazy…. you can park here just a short distance uphill on 156 from a Forest service campground marked as "Blue Tree") or continue the loop… 30 ft off the road from the carin that marks this crossing on the south side is a wooden trail sign that says "Mark’s Piece of Cake" follow this overgrown mining road steeply down and follow the obvious horse trail that leads across the wash and down for a couple of miles. The trail essentially descends east for about 2 miles as it parallels route 156 on the south side of the road. You will eventually come to another trail marker "Deer Creek Loop" Go up right on this horse trail, cruising through sage and juniper… its up and down as the trail heads more south… Eventually the trail descends again and heads back to the north closer to the road. Look for a left turn near a cairn at this point you should see the trail climbing up the slope of a wash to the north look for the yellow and red flagging as the trail becomes braided and a little harder to find… Go North to cross the road where two drainage tubes allow you to go under the road… about 2 miles downhill from where you parked. You can follow the washed out loose climb on the north side of the road to your car or ride the pavement 2 miles west until you see your car… Nice trail network with many options for exploring. High point is at 7500 ft so bring clothing for the weather… 38 degrees at 7 am on October 22, 2000. Burrr…. The loop took us about four hours of casual cruising ….
How to get there:
Take I-15 North to 95 North turn West (left)on Route 156 (Lee Canyon) Follow this up for 9 miles look for a dirt road on the North side of the road. Park here for the 14 mile loop option.

Parts are fun singletrack through bushes, but the majority is extremely loose gravel or small rocks that goes on forever and is no fun. The setting is very nice, and much cooler than Las Vegas.
