Trail Description:
Extensive nordic ski and sno mobile trails with clusters of single track and a few long technical single tracks. Well marked.
How to get there:
I39/51/29 to Hwy N exit west 4 miles to Redbud. Follow brown county forest signs.
Additional Notes:
Multi use. Hunters, horses, foresters. Outstanding hilltop camping.

awesome single track most of which is manageable for the average rider. A few paths have some pretty nasty boulders that require some skillz. overall great place to ride

for the most part many awesome trails are not far from the parking area. If you like 24-hr races, look into signing up for the annual 24-9 race and get a good dose of what Nine-mile can offer all you rock, root hitters. Did a mention night riding with a small group is crazy fun? See ya on the trails.

I'm actually a local to 9-mile and have been riding these trails for years. I can agree with you guy's on the fact that the trails are not marked as well as they could be, but that might be because of the constant changes to the trail system that occur year to year and the maps can’t be revised as quickly. I’ve been to many other trails in the state, down south, out west and Nine-mile still remains one of the best. If you are new to the trail system and you are looking for a long technical ride (epic), definitely hook up with some locals like myself, LBS (Rib Mountain Cycles) or make it there on a Thursday afternoon and hook up with the Wausau Wheelers group rides and forget about the map. There are so many great single track trails that are easy to access from double wide XC ski trails it’s not even funny. There are a few very technical single tracks that I can think of that are even hidden and only locals can show you the way but for the most part many awesome trails are

This is message to Brad, just because you got lost and exhausted by the time you managed to find some single track, you shouldn't leave such negative comments on a trail which you clearly didn't experience in its full force of chain breaking, frame bending and knee scraping epic riding. If you hook up with some locals in the parking lot you would return to redeem yourself and all the guys that do such an excellent job of creating and maintaining 9-mile. There is more to 9-mile than what’s on the map ;)

Rode all of these trails (1-12)last weekend with my 11 yr old and 14 yr old sons. A few of these trails are very rocky at times and trail 12 had some fair grade changes over rocks. Trail 1 had the best rock climbs, dependent on the direction of travel of course. There is a huge problem with the XC trail markings vs. the map. When trails combine i.e. "E" and "G", two signs should be posted on the trail. Even with a compass or GPS the markings can really send you in the wrong direction. There is also a $3 trail fee. Hopefully that will cover the cost to get the trail professionally marked.

Yea guys like "Brad" don't know what they're
missing. There are all of the trails he is
talking about but those are for the xc skiing.
There are tons of singletrack all over the
area. The ones that are marked are easy to
find and there are many, many others that
are unmarked. Eitherway they all hook up
and it's easy to get back to the parking lot. I
live 10 minutes away so I get to ride a lot but
it's worth taking a day, or weekend, trip to.

This is a great bike place,nordic, and snowmobile area. There are many different trails out there for beginers and places for you hard-core people. if you know what your doing you'll be ok but not the best place for little kids lots of places to get lost. I give it a five!!!

The previous poster didn't ride any of the singletrack at all. You have to look for it; better yet, stop by a Wausau bike shop and ask for directions. It's true that the majority of the clearly marked trails are wide double track- that's because these are XC ski trails. The singletrack trails shoot off of the marked trails and most of them come right back around to the point of origin, so it's relatively easy to find your way back. Many of these singletrack trails aren't marked at all, so please follow my advice and ask at the LBS or better yet, hook up with some locals in the parking lot, like I did. There is one short trail in particular that is extreme; if you can climb it w/o getting off, you're pretty good. To my knowledge these trails are 100% locally made and maintained. These trails are well worth the drive from southern Wisconsin, and I plan on going back. Give credit to the people who built these trails and don't judge them before actually looking

This trail was not at all what I expected it to be. I drove 2 hours to get there and wow did it blow. First of all you can get a map at the station and it doesn't even match that maps that they posted up on the trails. Then the mountain bike trails are just ski hills. You ride down you ride up you ride down you ride up. There is not trail either, it is just these grassy hills. After that you find the numbered trails that are designed for bmx bikes and they are the least bit challenging. I hate to say it but Bairds Creek was better then this. But nothing beats Greenbush.
