Trail Description:
This is a wonderful place!!!!! The main trail head starts across the street from Asbury Woods Nature Center. The Nature Center owns much of the property across the road and does much in the way of trail upkeep and protecting fragile areas, along with making this area accessible for all. The trails have everything you could want; hillclimbs, mud, straightaways, swamps, downhills, stream crossings (with huge Trout!). If you are with someone who frequents the area (me!) you can ride adjoining trails and make a whole day out of it. It is mostly frequented by us local Erieites, but I know so many people come up form Pittsburgh during the summer I thought I would post this and make you aware of it if you are in town.

How to get there:
US RT. 20 to Asbury Road (near Erie International Airport). South on Asbury road untill you come to a stop sign at a school witch will be on the right side. Proceed through the stop sign and you can either park at the nature center or at the picnic pavilion.

Additional Notes:
A great place to learn the ups and downs of mountain biking in a not so treacherous setting.

Asbury is a good time and has a little bit of everything for everybody. The only complaint I have is no matter what time of year it is their is always mud. Does anybody know if their is a group that takes care of the trails or is it just solo peeps?

I go to college in Erie so only frequent the area from fall through spring. I've heard from people that there are tons of long trails here. I've ridden it at least 3 times a month for the past year, it's a nice ride, but definately not as long as i've heard. I'm pretty hardcore and more of a freerider but still have a good x-country ride here. It is a nature park and the walking trails are what is biked on. There are always people walking/hiking, no matter the temperature and weather, so watch out. If it's really nice outside definately watch out. There is some private land around the perimeter of the park which is posted, but i've seen some locals riding and they said to not worry about the signs. There's a few hill climbs but they are only about 100 feet long. Most is a wide single track which can accommodate the most beginner of mountain bikers.

and watch your speed if you can still hear traffic, there might be old people or kids around, i almost nailed a whole slew of people when i was tearing up the trails there. The better ones are out towards the cricks and heading out towards the woods farther from the city.
