Sweet singletrack in a beautiful urban wilderness

Trail Description:
Mianus River Park is a small parcel of land on the Mianus River. The park straddles the border of Greenwich and Stamford CT. Heavily used by riders from all over the metro area, this park requires thoughtful riding and watching out for hikers and the rare equestrian. You can't get lost here, though the trail network is a spiderweb. Some technical sections and short, steep power climbs keep it interesting for the racers, while lots of dirt roads and flat terrain make it an ideal spot for novices as well. Just treat it well!

How to get there:
Take exit 33 from the Merrit Parkway, proceed to Westover Rd south (head toward downtown Stamford). Look out for Merriebrook Lane on your right and signs indicating the park. Parking lot is next to the big red barn just down the hill. If you cross the bridge over the river you've gone too far.

Additional Notes:
Observe all trail usage signs and be on your best IMBA behavior!

I agree with the majority of the below. Although I am fairly new to the sport of Mountain Biking, there is no way this is a beginner trail. This trail has many challenging/technical areas that involve a farily experienced rider. Good fun for sure!

If you go to the corner of the main road trail you will see a huge rock face coming towards you. If you continue there is a single track around the corner that will lead you to the top of this large rock face. I think its called "new Trail". Going down the glacier rock face towards main road is the highlight of this whole park and is absolutely technical.

Good single track logs, rocks, roots, climbs. Easy for intermediates, fun workout.

my first true mtbikin trails, built me from zero. most of the stuff is pretty beginner but if you know where to look, there are some north shore style log rides, some dirt kickers and even a fully built dirt jump

a good zero to hero trail. if you are a intermediate rider, it will be a blast. there is no significant climbs so you can save your energy for the fun stuff

As a serious mountain biker, i wouldn't recomend this trail to people just starting out. it is a good place to home your skills and you can't get lost no matter where you are.

the beginner rating is a bit off.. I have been mtn bkg for several years - around the rivers and main roads/entrances its a cake walk but a about 40% of the single track gets pretty technical to intermediate -- some spots quite advanced, roots, rocks, log drops etc. look for the "rock garden" off of tree house trail, or try tin pot - no beginner can handle that and intermediate riders are likely to do the occassional bail as well. Also the place has lots of fallen trees to hop over - every few hundred yards. Again - none of the technical stuff are on the main roads... where most of the hikers are... good, fun riding.
