Single track with technical sections. Very crowded trail at times. Easy access trail head.

Trail Description:
Apex Trail is part of Apex Park, a Jefferson County Open Space park, in the Denver / Golden metro area. Single track at all times with technical sections consisting of large water bars, softball-sized loose rock, and other riders. Best ride times are late in the evening (ride out at dusk) or during a weekday. Otherwise, Apex is very crowded, making tech sections even more so. Apex is best ridden as a loop with Enchanted Forest, Sluicebox, Grubstake, not as an out-and-back. Apex Park can also be ridden to link with Lookout Mountain Road and Chimney Gulch, adding on miles and time.

How to get there:
From Denver: I-70 West, take Morrison exit, go right, drive one mile and take a left at Heritage Square amusement park. Take immediate right once inside Heritage, to the "lower" parking lot. Drive to the back of the parking lot. Trailhead is at the Apex Park signboard.

Additional Notes:
Short rides. Get your licks after work and go home rides. Avoid the crowds.

Hi, hope you can help me with this.I have a problem using the apex:param. I have a table with radio bntuots, when select they pass a param (that is a value of a column the format is 12354*4154*45 ) to the action function and in the apex:param I use de assignTo to obtain the value of it in the controller here is my code.the code of the radio buttonThe variable type in the class controler is String. The problem that I'm having is when I get the value in my controller it comes the product of the param.Thank you for you collaboration.

The only reason why i gave this trail 3 stars is because of enchanted forest(which is a lot of fun), other wise this trail S#CKS! Once you hook back up with apex trail it is straight, with pointy rocks everywhere. You get the same effect by putting a slough of cones on a road and weave in and out of them. If you want something technical go to White Ranch.

Talk about epic! Try starting from the School of Mines Sports fields in Golden and connect to the Chimney Gulch Trail where the bridge crosses the river. Chimney Gulch is a mostly cruel uphill on sigletrack to the top of Lookout Mountain (aptly named). After a well deserved rest at the top ride on the singletrack along the road past the nature center. Watch carefully for signs and you can catch the summit of the Apex Trail. Ride down on the right side to go through the Enchanted Forest but avoid this route if conditions are wet as the exposed roots will give you an East Coast style a-- crackin. Hang left downhill along the canyon trail and head up the "Sluice Box" if you can handle another few hundred feet of verticle gain separated by several switchbacks. If you make it you have the reward of coasting down the Pick-n-sledge back to the lot. Be careful, this descent is for real. Ride along heritage road back to campus. 3 hrs., 2,000 est. verticle gain, start elev. 6,000ft+/-.

Apex is my favorite Denver ride. There are so many ways to link up the loops that you can make it a real epic. It has it all: Long steady climbing; grunty, technical climbing; switchbacks; fast descents; roller sections; tight winders in the trees; roots, rocks, and water bars; and many blind corners. Watch your speed coming down, because it can get fast and you never know what is around the next bend. I've seen a big bull elk up here, which surprises me to this day, and recently I saw 2 rattle snakes here. There is a nice spring in the enchanted forest which is welcome relief after the long climb up on a hot day. When I've feelt randy enough, I've looped the trails together enough to get about a 20 mile ride in with lots of climbing and only one trail repetition. This is an awesome afterwork ride.
