Ride Summary:
Tons of trails, gorgeous views.need we say more?
Trail Description:
From the parking area, ride under the highway to the main riding area. There are tons of singletrack, double track and fire road options to explore. There is also a wide variety of terrain here. You can experience everything from smooth, well-groomed sections to extremely technical and challenging areas. Because of this diversity, there really is something for everyone here. Also, the views are truly spectacular.
Not all trails here are open to bikes. Please obey all signs.
How to get there:
From San Jose, take HWY 17 south to Santa Cruz. Then go North on HWY 1. Less than 2 miles past the Western Drive intersection, you will see Wilder Ranch parking on your left.

great set of beginner trails along with some great inter-woven into grey whale which has a more vast "down hill" setting over all a very fun ride and would recomend this for the weekend warrior and the beginner! all will have one hell of a time, and you cant beat the views of the Pacific Ocean!

There are just so many possible trails to take here. As many have already said, the Enchanted Forest kicks ass!! I have gotten lost in these trails since there are so many but if you have a good sense of direction you would eventually head towards the ocean to find Hwy 1. Check out the fire trails behind UCSC (UCSC Preserve), the're also very good. Love Santa Cruz, enjoy the trails!!!!

NO DOGS.
What a shame. I really don't have a rating because I didn't even make it across US1 to the real trails. The Double Track does offer a fast loop with good views.

Iparked in the lot at 8 on a monday morning 8-27-01, and the park wasn't staffed, so the 3 dollar fee was waived. Im a fat 35 yr old guy that took a map (obtained from www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~rsf/rides/WilderRanch.html ),and went alone. The map was very helpful, and I felt comfortable with the trails .Nothig too gnarly. There were a few root drops in the Enchanted Forest that were a lil techy, but the rest was mostly mellow. Hit Enchanted going clockwise (a better dh). Eucaltptus, and Old Cabin single tracks were sweet!

If you do not ride Enchanted and Old Cabin - you wasted the gas to get there. Great singletracks.

Loved the views from the top of the hill. Lots of the single-track is closed (to hikers, as well) for habitat rehab. But I still had a good ride on double-track.
