Ride Summary:
Start with a downhill! Finish with a long climb.

Trail Description:
This is one fun ride. You start with blazing fast downhill singletrack and finish with a long climb back out to your car. To start, take the Whittmore Gulch Trail down to Higgins Purisima Rd. and ride back up. If this doesn't do it for you, there's plenty more here to explore. Lots of great trails to explore.

How to get there:
From San Francisco take 28 South to HWY 92. Take HWY 92 West towards Half Moon Bay and then turn left onto HWY 35/Skyline Blvd. Stay on Skyline for about 2.5 miles and park in the lot on the right.

All downhill and then all up. I prefer to mix it up. Also the trails are far too tailored for my taste. Not technical at all. Great views, but I won't be back for mountain biking.

The best single track in the bay area! Do the counter clockwise loop by going down Whitmore Gulch. 1 Hour loop, 7 Miles. BTW, make sure Whitmore Gulch is open, as heavy rains closes the trail to bikers.

This is one of my favorite trails. It is beautiful! The second growth redwoods are spectacular. There are several different routes you can take. This is a popular trail and can be crowded on weekends.

This is a great ride with plenty of diversity.....beware of tree pigs with radars :)

Downhill - Awesome! If you like fast paced trail diversity, this is the ride! Not nearly as rocky as Eldrige Grade (Mt. Tam) but can be just as technical, with lots of different challanges on the way down. If you like to jump, the rain burms every 50 yards or so kick butt! Recommend taking Harkins trail down, and Whitmore gulch back up. Prepare youself for some VERY STEEP climbs on the long haul up.

Ryan's right about this ride, only he does it backwards. Ride down Whittemore(singltrack) and up Purissima Creek(fire road). Nice ocean views when not fogged in.

This is my favorite Mountain Bike place in the Bay Area. Defenitely start at the top of the Purisima Creek trail and then come back up Whitmore Gulch. The descent into the valley is fun and beautiful. Once on the floor of the valley you are under a canopy of sequoias that keeps you shaded from the sun. I feel like I'm an Ewok when I'm down there! On the way back up on the Whitmore Gulch side you leave the Sequoias and get an unobstructed view of the ocean. Very beautiful and a great ride.
