I've been riding these trails for over 2 months now. There are many different ways to go around without overlaping much. The natural jumps in some of the trails are just awesome. I'm riding it now almost everyday. I noticed some of the fire roads now being worked on. I hope that no asfalt is coming to the lake, the place needs to stay the way it is. I found out about this spot via this website. Thanks a bunch.

For the record it still connects to flight line (I just rode it yesterday). Its pretty fun with a variety of jumps. There is a trail tat goes to the beach right in the general area.

calaveras is a fun hangout spot to do bmx or mess around in the lake (which is disgusting but fun) by jumping off the tower or rope swing. there is mountain bike potential on the mountain but the trails around it are more for hiking and there are alot of people that do so dont bomb down the trails or your going to nail someone or their dog. there are three trails on the mountain which i rate beginner, intermediate, advanced. the cool thing about the way the trails are placed is that the beginner is the northernmost trail, intermediate is in the middle and advanced is the southernmost trail. these trails are on the west side of the mountain. there is one realy hard trail on the east side that is SUPER steep and the whole trail is one big rock garden. the trail is worth a try just for the experience. from calaveras you used to be able to connect with flightline by hopping the creek about a mile south of the mountain but that trail is overgrown with poison oak;

Not sure about the 18 mile deal.....maybe if you made a few loops. I would say 10-13 and that is covering the area front and back. The riding is good, easy to technical. This is a good ride for training and fun. Never saw people eating at a table and I have been riding there for years! Although some migrants do live in the area they are usually off of the trails or working in the farm fields. Worth the time riding if you live close by otherwise stay with your local trail. There are much better places to ride in So Cal.

That's funny I have been hiking and riding this are for 15 years. I have never seen anyone sitting around on the trails. Where the heck have I been. I now park at Chicks and ride up the new road towards the park. Gives me a warm up before I get there. Rode a few days ago, about 10 guys on MTB bikes up there. The best part of this place is to ride up the hill, then look down, or ride into the oval and look up at the cliff. You can also climb the cliff, I have been doing that for years. Gets a little hairy though. The trails are still intact, and the construction on the North end does not appear to affect the park too much. This is a wild life protected are, so I think the trails will stay for a long time.

Lots of migrant farm workers living in the bushes out there. Once came jamming down a singltrack section only to find about five mexicans sitting around an old table eating breakfast.
