Ride Summary:
long grueling fire road climb and screaming fast descent
Trail Description:
This ride is technically extremely easy, but it's long grueling climb makes this a more advanced ride. It is an all fire road ride, but if you're into long climbs, this is worth it. The ride is a long and grueling 17 mile climb up a wide fire road to the top of Topa Topa. The trail starts with two stream crossings that can get pretty deep. The benefit of the long climb is some great views, but more importantly, the screaming fast downhill. Hold on tight cuz you can really fly down.
How to get there:
From HWY 126 take the 10th St. Exit (HWY 150) Take HWY 150 towards Ojai. After about 12 miles you will see a fire station. Just past the fire station on the right is Sisar Road. Park in the dirt lot at the bottom.

Topatopa is in the Wilderness, so you should probably not go that far unless you are willing to accept a ticket from the Ranger. Still a nice ride to the gate at the Wilderness border, about 5 miles from Topatopa. VERY fast ride back down, pretty darn steep for a fire road. Red Reef Trail runs between about the 4 mile point on the fire road to the ridge above, so you can ride the fire road up and take Red Reef down for some amazing single track. Or ride up and back Red Reef, which is my preferred route in this area. Red Reef is an advanced level trail in places and is very steep in places, but even beginners can enjoy it if you don't mind walking through a few sections.
