Ride Summary:
This a climbers dream with 3200 feet of climbing over 12 miles followed by a thrilling descent of 2500 feet over 5 miles.

Trail Description:
The ride starts in the small campground and heads straight up the ridge spine for the first half mile. Most riders will have to do some hiking at times but don't worry because after the first mile the trail levels off a bit so that experts can ride. The trail winds through a ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir forest, offering a spectacular view of the opposite ridge. At mile 7 the trail heads down hill for 2.5 miles before crossing a small wooden bridge and heading back up. At mile 11.3 the trail comes to the trail to Stevens Point. The Julie Creek trail is less than a mile away and is marked. Once on the Julie Creek trail you will treated to a 2500 foot drop over the next 5 miles. Have fun on the switchbacks, but watch out for rocks and other trail users. When you reach the trailhead at the bottom, jump on the road and follow the Deadwood River 7 miles back to the Deadwood Campground.

How to get there:
Take Idaho 55 north from Boise to Banks (34 miles). Cross the South Fork Payette and turn right. Follow the Bank-Lowman road to Deadwood Campground (30 miles). Lowman Park is 7 miles away.

Hard ride but super rewarding. Watch out for Motos while you are screaming down Julie Creek. yo BEN, here's counter clockwise route info from Garmin http://connect.garmin.com/activity/50695655 I wasn't the fast guy on this ride either.

Correction: Do the loop clockwise.......

The trail is tough but good riders can make the loop in 4 hours. I'd suggest the counter clockwise loop as well.....lots more downhill. This trail is great singletrack but a true adventure. Just expect to hike up a good part of Julie Creek.

I would like to meet the guy who rode this on a mountain bike in 4-5 hours so I could call him a lier to his face. The guys we crossed on motor cycles said they did it in 4 hours.

Suggesting doing it in reverse. Be prepared to walk most of the 1st 2 miles once on julie creek trail. Killer downhill. Try to keep your eyes on the trail rather than the scenery while downhilling!

the trail is better if you ride it backwords. The climb is very tough but the ride down is longer and faster
