Trail Description:
This ride starts from a quite, upscale neighborhood and quickly disappears into the oak forest. This area also features some rather interesting signs telling mountain bikers not to change their clothes in public and other common sense rules that we should all live by. In general, the area welcomes mountain bikers, but be courteous and thankful for the opportunity to ride on these great trails.

There are lots of fun trails with smooth downhills, steep climbs, and technical sections. A few fallen trees and ruts add to the challenge. This area is a maze of inter-connecting singletrack and dirt roads so just hop on your bike and have fun. But look out for equestrians and the local residents out walking their dogs.

How to get there:
Take HWY 210 East to it's end. Take Foothill Blvd.. At Wheeler, turn left and follow Wheeler until you reach Via De Mansion. Turn right onto Via De Mansion and take another right onto Orangewood. The trailhead is right by the creek. You can park at Oak Mesa Park, On Wheeler Avenue, the trail head parking off Stephens Ranch Road or at la Verne Heights School on Baseline Road.

Additional Notes:
Obey the signs, look out for other trail users, and be courteous. Help keep this trail open.

This trail is for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians. Please be courteous upon coming up on an equestrian or a hiker. Most horses and most hikers can not hear a bike approaching from the rear...please give a courteous "Coming up behind you" so they can have a chance to not be spooked or run over.

Totally and uttrly lame. Do not waste your time with this unless you're a total noob. Anyone who's ever ridden a lot of trails in the San Gabes would be bored $hitless. Even the Santa Anas are better than Marshall Canyone which is not saying much.

Yo, pole smoker AKA Carpet Muncher, who the hell do you think you are, Steve Peat? I think not. Now run along you wanna be pro.

Excellent trail network, especially for climbing. Start at the bottom from Orangewood, and you can get up to 10+ miles of climbing (if you go up Potato mtn). for potato mtn, when you get to the gate, keep left til you hit a small water tower, where you can make another left, follow this trail as high as it goes. very difficult climbing. as for the lower section, great climbing, with plenty of singletracks/dirt road/switchbacks to choose from. best time to go is weekday mornings, when traffic is minimal

I don't get what the previous poster says about this being totally weak. Marshall canyon is lots of fun with pretty much a little of everything. Fire roads, single track, water crossings, switchbacks and downhill. Lots of fun jumps and berms coming back down. You can do a 16 mile loop coming out in Claremont, or go all the way to the top (gate) and come back down into Orangewood/Via de Mansion near Wheeler. There are several routes to choose from so you won't see the same thing twice if you don't care to. Be carefull for the joggers, horses and people with dogs. I suggest riding with someone as I have seen a lot of wild life in the canyon. i.e. coyote, deer, snakes, even mountain lions (once) and black bear (once). See you all on the trails!

Weak all the way around. Too many joggers and horses to rip it up.

Too many high school kids training for cross country. Lots of horses too. If you want to go fast, don't go here. If you have all day and want a good slow pedal, go here.

Mar. Cyn is great to ride. Early is better and strict attention to trail ettiquete is needed as ther are numerous hikers and equestrians on all parts of the trail. The best way to get away is to start early and keep going uphill. It's hard to get lost but just remember you will encounter other trail users on the downhills so just take it easy. Funn for beginners and girlfriends
