This trail was a lot of fun. It was a tad confusing tho. got turned around a bit. Would have gotten a five but there was just too muchh sand. but over all it was great. especially living just down the street. that's great.

Starr Pass is a great trail for all levels of mountain biking. I just started riding the trail a few months ago, and thoroughly enjoy it. Friends came up from S.V. to ride Friday...we saw a tortoise on the ride back. We begin and end on the single track just south west of the parking lot. I consider it the "new" way, since we used to go over the gate by the golf course.

The direction to get there are a little off. St Mary's turns into Anklam. Turn left off Anklam onto Players Club. Then left at the T onto Starr Pass. It will be shortly up the road to your left. Look for the dirt road.

Great riding area, close to Downtown and easy to get to. Love riding at Starpass for its technical challenge and beautiful scenery. However, either it's getting rockier or I'm getting older and less tollerant. Beginners Beware! Not a pleasure ride-in-the-park. (Visitors: Don't worry too much about the snakes, unless you leave the trails and start hiking around)

Concur with Skotty, this is classic bang-clang, smash-bash desert singletrack.....LOTS of rocks, sand and thorny green plants to challenge you.....BUT, the trails are so worn in by the urban masses, that GENERALLY, the speed is there to enjoy......Big rain, AKA monsoons, bring the level right back down to fear and reservation when it's all rutted out and that rock you ALWAYS drifted around at mach 3 is now sitting CROSSHAIRS in your line....More than once for me....Still, great fun, don't miss it...Slow down a tad-you'll be fine...Fun

Just got back to Seattle, Had a great ride at Star Pass yesterday. Very rocky with lots of sandy/gravely washes. Fast downhills with mild uphills. Watch out for thoose cati & rattlesnakes, I saw one little snake behind a rock I used as a jump. I went out for 4 hours and never saw anyone on the trail (although it was mid-week and most locals were probably working). This trail is very close to downtown Tucson. Bring lots of water, spare tubes & a good pump. I got lucky and didn't get even one flat, but others i talked to after my ride weren't so lucky. Thank you Slime Tire-Liners. I was riding a 1999 Super V 400 Cannondale. It performed flawlessly. Very "smooth" ride. If your heading for Tucson and want a fast fun ride without miles of uphill this is the place.
