Trail Description:
This ride is not for the faint at heart. It is aerobically and technically extreme. The slightest mistake on this ride is painful at best, and fatal at worst. The majority of the ride is surrounded by Yucca plants and steep exposed drops. Technically advanced riders looking for a challenge will love this ride. But if you're not an expert rider, don't even consider this. You'll end up walking and cursing the whole way. The ride starts with a 2.5 mile fire road climb. At 2.5 miles turn right on the road towards Josephine Peak. At the saddle, bear left and head up. Soon the trail will get extremely narrow and treacherous. After about 5 miles, you will drop into Strawberry Potrero. At junction at the bottom, go right and start climbing again for about 2 more miles to the saddle between Strawberry Peak and Mt. Lawlor. From here, start heading down for another 2 to 3 miles until you reach the Angeles Crest Hwy and Red Box Ranger Station. Find the trail again in the far NW corner of the parking lot. It starts out fire road, but quickly reduces to singletrack again. After about 2 miles, take the trail to your left. This trail will end at a picnic area. Take the steep paved road less than a mile up until you see a trail to the left. Follow this last mile of trail back to your car.

How to get there:
From HWY 210 in La Canada, exit North on Angelus Crest HWY and follow it for 10 plus miles to the Clear Creek Junction. Park at the Y.

This was one of my favorite rides before the fire, with thousands of pine trees and giant granite bolders and cliffs that allowed you to feel as though you were far from the city. The 3rd leg is a great technical challenge. Hopefully it recovers fully and quickly and some of the forest servived.

This trail is fantastic. Hard climb and out of this world down. The trail on the ridge behind Strawberry Peak has been remodeled and is great. Wow!!! A 10++ trail. Ciao

this trail rocks in the late fall the trees lose thier leaves and makes it a beautifull and slippery ride. you can also find some wild berries to eat along the way.... I have many times and they are sweet and juicy (yum yum) the water in the creeks is cold and if you ride all the way down you will end up in the JPL. parking lot in Pasedina. GREAT RIDE!!!!! :o)

the trail has been groomed, removing some of the more technical sections but it is still worth the trip. Hard core ride starts from Red Box, down to Switzers, up to Strw. Pk and around to Red Box again 20 miles of the best riding SoCal has to offer

The best ride in SoCal, this is Moab riding at home. This trail will hold it's own in the Promised Land(UT). Painful climbs, awesome downhill, incredible views. Start early, last time I run out of light for the last downhill..not funny!
