Trail Description:
Cross the highway and ride up F.S.R. #380 towards Pilot Peak. The road comes to a saddle junction at mile 3.2. Follow the main road that bends to the right (don't take the hard right). The Bear Run junction is at mile 3.4; turn left and ride a half-mile to another fork and take the right fork. The road passes an old mining cabin at mile 4.05. At mile 4.4, turn right off the main road and head down a short, technical downhill. The road then rises sharply as it climbs a ridge. Around 5 miles the trail will come to a right turn marked by a rock cairn. Turn right and follow a faint jeep trail down two steep drops and then the climbing begins again at mile 5.75. At mile 6.5 the trail comes to a summit. Continue on through a large meadow and watch for a sharp right turn. The turn is at mile 6.8 and is marked by a pile of rotten timber. The ride is mostly down hill from here. A fork appears at mile 8.9; stay right. The junction for the Wilson Peak and Coulter Summit trails is at mile 9.1. Turn right onto F.S.R. #380 and follow it back towards Pilot Peak. Ignore the Rock Creek fork at Mile 14 and stay on F.S.R. #380. Turn left at the Bear Run junction at mile 16.3 and head back down to the parking lot.

How to get there:
Take Idaho 21 east from Boise through Idaho City to Mores Creek Summit. Park in the large lot on the right side of the highway.

Rode this ride about 6 years-ago with my dad on a hot day. Great views and great ride until we ran out of water. The thought of cold beer in the car had a racing like to two horses toward the barn on the last hill before the decent.

Rode this on a hot summer day - the masochist rating was more true than I had expected! Make sure you have plenty of water for the ride; bug spray is a necessity as annoying pests are in abundance; and remember that you will have the long Pilot's Peak climb at the end of the ride so pace yourself.
