Well maintained, well marked 12 mile loop. The terrain is easy to ride, it's the elevation that make's these trails hard. First 7 miles are mostly up hill, last 5 is some fun downhills.

HAGERSTOWN? This trail is 60 miles west of Hagerstown!! Saying this trail is in Hagerstown is like saying Baltimore is in DC!!

the forest has set up a new 12 mile loop this year that has a lot of varied trail. not a lot of rocks but plenty of climbing and what makes this ok for beginners is the many easy out logging roads to bail out if wanted

Beginners? Who ever is putting this info up has obviously not been to Green Ridge State Forest. I would certainly not take a beginner there, unless you want to kill them or drive them away from Mountain Biking all together. While the dirt roads (and there are plenty) are "easy" to ride, there is plenty of elevetion changes that will make it unpleasent for a beginner rider. The 12 mile mountian bike loop and the MD Championship Race Course are excellent single track trails. If you are an intermediate/advanced rider you will love these trails, but if you are an up and coming beginner go to Gambrill to get a taste of what this place is like.

Whats great about the Ridge is that you can camp there. Mtb and camping what a great weekend trip!

i wouldn't consider this to be a trail for beginners. there are both technical uphills and downhills, including some nasty hairpin switchbacks

this is afterall, where the md state mtb championship races are held, so it can't be all that subtle.
