Ride Summary:
This ride starts out with some steep climbing but quickly becomes gradual for the rest of the climb to Grand Mountain.
Trail Description:
The ride starts out on the dirt road, but becomes steep and paved after a half mile. The paved section is a 20 percent grade and thankfully only lasts a half mile. The road reaches a summit at mile .85 and the pavement ends. The road drops for .6 tenths of a mile and then begins a long gradual climb towards Grand Mountain. The views get better and better as the road winds around the mountain. As the road reaches a saddle at mile 7.7., keep your eyes peeled for a trailhead off to the left in the trees. The fun starts here. At mile 9.26, the trail skirts Granite Mountain and then heads down a gentle, broad pine-covered ridge. Keep your eye on the trail, because it's easy to get lost in the sketchier areas. At mile 12.39, you will reach the trailhead. The trail is marked by a green sign that says "Trail". It's another mile to the Trail Creek road. Turn left and spin back to Trapper Creek on the North Fork road. At mile 14.6, turn left at Deer Park after crossing the North Fork of the Boise River.
How to get there:
Take Idaho 21 from Boise 65 miles to the Edna Creek Road (USFS Road #384). Turn right onto Edna Creek Road and follow it for 12 miles to the North Fork of the Boise River. Turn left and go another 3 miles to the Trapper Creek logging road. Park so that you don't block the gate.

unable to get to the trail as the north fork of the boise is so high there are road closures heading east toward atlanta. unable to attain trailhead.
