Trail Description:
The trail is sandy and wide for the first mile as it follows the headwaters of the Silver Creek. The trail is surrounded by Engleman spruce and Douglas fir trees. The scenery is fantastic along the entire ride. The climb rises 1450 feet over the 3.5 miles to the top of the summit. The last half mile is fairly steep, but rideable, so hang in there and grind it out all the way to the top. The view from the summit is spectacular. If you're feeling spunky, stash the bike and go hike along one of the ridge lines to the nearby peaks for even better views. When you're ready to go just head back the way you came.

How to get there:
Take Idaho 55 north from Boise to Banks (34 miles). Cross the South Fork of the Payette and follow Banks-Lowman Road for 8 miles and then turn left at the Crouch turnoff. Drive up the road for 24 miles to USFS Road #678 (just before Boiling Springs Campground). Turn right on to #678 and drive 7 miles to the junction with Silver Creek (stay right when you reach the intersection of USFS #678B), turn left. Follow the road to a dead end; the Silver Creek Summit Trail is on the left.
