Trail Description:
From the parking lot, cross the stream and check out the map of the rim trail. The first mile is pretty easy. Then you will pass through a fence and the trail starts to climb up some rocky sections and through some tough switchbacks. Once at the top, the trail descends back down and joins up with the trail you climbed up. There are some great views and there's plenty opportunity to see some wildlife out there too.
How to get there:
From Cloudcroft, head South on Sunspot Road for about five miles to Bluff Springs Campground. At the sign for Bluff Springs Campground, turn left and follow the road to the campground.
Additional Notes:
Be courteous to hikers.

totally wrong directions to trailhead. get on trail right out of cloudcroft on sunspot road. good spot to park on east side of road just after ranger station and deerhead campground. trail goes under highway there so you can't miss it. day i rode it it was a wet, slipperry ,muddy ride; in other words perfect.

Great singletrack. See Matt at High Altitude in Cloudcroft for information. He'll also shuttle you if you ask!
