Ride Summary:
A good one for beginners!
Trail Description:
The trails here are build on volcanic rock making for a unique trail surface. None of the trails here are very technical so entry-level riders are able to enjoy the trials. Caja Del Rio offers some spectacular views from the plateau.
How to get there:
From Santa Fe, take West Alameda which will turn into County Road 70 and turn to gravel. Follow County Road 70 for 5 miles past St. Francis and turn right onto County Road 62. Follow 62 for two miles into the Santa Fe National Forest and follow Forest Road 24 to Caja Del Rio.

If you're looking to park your car at a specific location...guess again. My fiance and I, after finally finding County 24, spent over an hour trying to figure out where the trails were...to find out that the "bike trail" STARTS from Santa Fe. Once we found our way off the winding, extremely rocky trail of the plateau, we parked at the golf course along Caja Del Rio Rd. and biked some of the trails in that area. All in all it certainly was an adventure and we had a good time...and me being a beginner found these trails to be just right for getting the hang of it. PS. I suggest NOT taking your vehicle on C. Rte 24...

You get a good cleaning from riding washboard roads
all day, and when it rains - mud s*cking- you'll wish
you stayed at home
