Ride Summary:
Crowded on the weekends but worth skipping work for during the week!
Trail Description:
This trail starts with a good climb and ends with a ripping technical downhill. On weekends, the trail gets very crowded with hikers and bikers. Also many downhillers shuttle to the top and kamikaze down. This trail offers some great technical terrain, stream crossings, gorgeous scenery, and is a must ride for any advanced rider in the Santa Fe area.
How to get there:
From Santa Fe Plaza, take Washington Avenue North for about 4 miles. Washington Avenue will become State Road 590. Turn right onto County Road 72A and follow County Road 72a a quarter mile to the trailhead.

Strainge I'm 59 years old and never realized that this trail required advanced skills. I have worn out my rims from baking with grit on my brake pads from the 27 stream crossings after many rides.

I think the user below tried to ride this too early. I rode it 3/25/06 and it was mostly free of snow up to about a mile from the top. Yes, it has been widened many places on the lower sections of trial and can no longer be considered single track. But it is still a challenge to climb and a blast to descend.

Absolutely awesome single track ride. The climb up is a grind but worth it for the downhill. The trail offers everything, water crossings, jumps, and screaming fast single track.
