Ride Summary:
Great singletrack trails in the center of Rhode Island
Trail Description:
The Arcadia Management Area is a great system of mostly singletrack trails conveniently located in the center of the state. The area is over 15,000 acres and is packed with great trails to explore. There are so many trails that it will take several trips to even come close to finding them all. That also means that it is easy to get turned around and get lost. Plan plenty of time to find your way back out of the maze of trails. The area is divided in half by HWY 165 so if you can find your way back to the highway, you can find your way back to your car.
How to get there:
From East Greenwich, go South on I-95 to Exit 5A. Turn left onto HWY 102 and follow it for about a mile to HWY 3. Turn right and follow HWY 3 another mile to HWY 165. Turn right again. Once you pass Arcadia Road, you are in the Arcadia Management Area. Look for cars parked at various trailheads all along HWY 165.

Make sure you watch out for hunters further up the mountain...other than that, the vast network of trails makes for a great time and sweet little challenge. The downhill rides are always awesome.

I put over a thousand miles on in this park last season and It's the best place I've ever seen. There is a challenge for EVERY rider. If you didn't find a challenge you didn't find the right trail! Steep technical rocky decents, mountains, some nice climbs rivers, waterfalls, potable natural springs, and did I mention ROCKS something NJ doesn't have. Some of the best riding in New England!

Arcadia Management Area is a great place for all levels of riding. There are trails for beginners and there are also some psycho trails for the more serious riders. If you are a XC racer, there are many steep climbs with many obstacles to practice your skills. Also if you are a serious XC racer, visit Mt. Tom(in Arcadia Management Area), I think you will like it. The overall Mt. Tom trip is fairly short but you will definitely feel it! This area is a great place to train if you are a racer or to have fun for the recreational rider. In spite of this, make sure you have a pretty good idea as to where you are going before you go; it is a pretty big place and it is easy to get turned around.

Arcadia Management Area is located actually in Exeter, Rhode Island. It is comprised of 15,000 acreas of prime forest with about 60 miles of sweet single track. Trail maps are available at the main lot on the North side of 165 (just down the hill from the White Church). If your still not sure where to ride feel free to ask on of the Rhode Island Mountain Bike Patrol members who patrols there. We can offer sugguestions on which trails to take based on your level of experience and how many miles you want to ride.
