Ride Summary:
A park with many looping trails built by locals.

Trail Description:
Much of the trails are singletrack or wide footpaths. Many of the trails can be looped together for what seems like an endless ride. There are no hills so be prepared to pedal all day to keep your wheels rolling. There is not a lot of technical difficulty to the trails but it is fun flying through the singletrack as fast as your legs can take you!

How to get there:
Middle Run Park is near Newark off Possum Park Road by the intersection with Paper Mill Road. From Baltimore, head North on I-95 to HWY 896 which leads you to Newark, DE. From Philadelphia, begin on HWY 611 heading south for 3.5 miles 3.5. Turn right on I-676 (US 30) heading west for 1.0 miles. Turn left on HWY 76 heading south for 2.9 miles. Continue on HWY 291 heading southwest for 3.2 miles. Turn right on HWY 95 heading southwest for 34.1 miles. Turn right on HWY 896 heading north for 2.1 miles to Newark, DE.

live about 4 miles from the trails, hit them at least once a week. like some have stated before, Middle Run is not all basic in terms of being flatt. the trail i ride is composed of a few sections of other trials. its aprox. 14.5 miles , it has its hills and flatts but let me tell you the technical area is a blast! as for directions i come off Paper Mill Road, and turn on to Posum park and down and park at the lot by "Tri-state Bird Rescue" in general friendly area to ride! ENJOY

Great run! Relatively well marked and challenging. I wouldn't recommmend it for the absolute novice but most others will have a blast. Like Kevins said, whoever built this knew their stuff. Time wise I did two full loops in just under 3hrs. Enjoy!!!

These trails are great and don't let anyone say any different. Whoever cut 'em knew how to make mtb trails that are fun and still rideable. I've ridden all over the US (and raced quite a bit too), and I'm really thankful that someone took the time to make these trails. If you're coming from PA, You can put together a real nice single track loop from the parking lot at the Northern (PA) Park office. If you ride down along the White Clay, then split the David English, Whitely Farms, Bryan's Field trails, then cross over to the Lenape Trail in Middle Run (biggest loop, I think), then come back on Bryan's, Whitely, and English, you get a nice warm-down along the creek going back to the office. At a moderate-fast rate, expect 2-2:20 hours.

The Best trails in Delaware. Endless trails, Creek Crossings are great, Logs Galore and some good climbs!

I agree with the previous writer about the terrain. For this area, there are pretty good grades and you can build up some speed on the downhills. Also, the trails can be somewhat technical especially because of the rocks and roots. I hadn't biked here in about ten years (I recently moved back to the area). I was pleasantly surprised by how the park has changed. It seems like the trail system has been expanded and the trails are now well marked. Also, when I biked here years ago it seemed like the trails were getting eroded, but it looks as though they've held up pretty well. People have done some work on erosion control by putting logs into hills, etc. Also, there is a mix of forested trails and trails that go through meadow and farmland, which makes for a more interesting ride. Only problem is that the park isn't bigger. Other good places to ride in this area include Fair Hill, MD and Susquehanna State Park, MD
