Trail Description:
On the edge of the park near the university you'll find some fair downhills. This is called Cardiac Hill. You can find it by taking the right before Carpenter State Park from HWY 896 and follow this road until it ends at Creek Road. There is a trail going up the hill. The trail is about a half a mile long. At the top go to the left for about a quarter mile and there's another downhill which is twice as long as the previous. The technical challenge is not too "extreme" but they can be taken very fast! At the bottom of Cardiac Hill, you can follow Creek Road North for a mile. Cross the road and keep heading North on the dirt road and the roads shifts into a flat singletrack for about four miles. This is a good place for beginners to get a taste of singletrack without getting into trouble.

How to get there:
From Newark take HWY 896 North two miles and you'll see signs for Carpenter State Park or White Clay Creek State Park on the right.

Additional Notes:
There's frisbee golf if you like ditching the bike. Park Office (302) 368-6900

Finally stumbl'd upon soheimtn' worth viewin' and th' whole family can enjoy! Th' nature tis beautiful! This site lets us set our eyes on th' scenes of such immense activity and witness th' beauty of nature's innumerable wonders! Th' tunes are nevr duplicated. Listenin' to scamperin' squirrels, pesky crows and even insects buzzin' durin' th' day and crickets shriekin' at nite as raccoons, flyin' squirrels, deer and an occasional neighborin' dog navigate thru th' forest n search for food tis a perfect melody of it's own. Even th' birds chirpin' in early mornin' to frogs croakin' joyfully at nite; bein' up close, watchin' deer sniff th' grain as th' fawns tag along is a rare sight. We would lik to say thank you for sharin' and bringin' th' sights n sounds into our home, which maks us feel vry much closer to th' beauty of th' earth. I'm sure evry specie is

i'd like to thank you mr david English for your fast and flowey singletrack. it's like a pump track it's so flowey. the trials section is amazing for a state park, you locals don't know how good you have it. de spinners keep up the great work, your volunteer hours are much appreciated. i've ridden pretty much every where while living out west, this place is a gem. a mid Atlantic classic not to be missed. if you live any where along the 95 corridor you have no excuse not to ride here at least once. and it's free, just like the shopping.
